At our Summer Meeting, Barbara Murray, a senior lecturer at the University of Brighton gave an inspiring talk on ‘The Effects of Stress on Learning’. Barbara stressed the importance of emotional well-being and security as a foundation of learning. She suggested that it is the responsibility of adults to support and build children through acceptance and described the important role teachers have in this, especially with children with specific learning difficulties.
The Autumn meeting is on November 19th, when Cath Oddhayward from The Swan Centre, at Falmer School will be telling us of the visual and practical strategies used at the Centre for students with speech and language difficulties and Autism.
